Forever Young is an album published by Editions Dilecta to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the Georges-Philippe and Nathalie Vallois contemporary art gallery. The Georges-Philippe and Nathalie Vallois gallery, founded in September 1990 in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, has established itself as one of the most important and innovative galleries in the Parisian art scene. The gallery has helped to introduce many leading artists, following four key directions: beyond representing foreign artists who hold their first solo exhibition in a gallery in France (Paul McCarthy, Keith Tyson, Pilar Albarracín…), the gallery has supported the emerging French scene since the 1990s (Gilles Barbier, Alain Bublex, Julien Berthier, Vincent Lamouroux…).
With the encounter with Paul McCarthy in 1992 and continuing to this day, the gallery has organized a series of solo and thematic exhibitions dedicated to the Californian art scene (Richard Jackson, Martin Kersels, Adam Janes…). Finally, since its inception, the Vallois gallery has exhibited artists from the “Nouveau Réalisme” movement, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in October 2010. A reference gallery in this field, it has represented Jacques Villeglé since 1999, and now also represents Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle.
The cover of the album, designed by Winshluss, winner of the Angoulême International Comics Festival in 2009, the projects imagined by around twenty contemporary artists for this occasion, as well as the participation of six critics and curators, all celebrate this anniversary. Forever Young is, therefore, more than just a commemorative book—it is a richly illustrated testimony to a history in the making.
