Pilar Albarracín (born in Seville in 1968) questions the traditional hierarchy of genders through video, performance, sculpture, photography, and installation. She draws on the cultural and ritual characteristics of her native Andalusia to challenge the division of female and male roles and the foundations of sexual identity. This catalog was published on the occasion of her first solo exhibition in France at La Maison Rouge in 2008.
